Laura Spencer Portor Pope (1872–1957) was an American journalist and author who contributed to the early twentieth-century literary landscape through short stories, articles, and books. Portor is particularly remembered for her creative partnership with fellow writer Dorothy Giles. Writing together under the joint pseudonym "Rayburn Crawley," the duo authored two notable science fiction novels: The valley of creeping men, published in 1930, and Chattering gods, which followed in 1931.
