St. George Henry Rathborne was a highly prolific American author active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Born on December 26, 1854, Rathborne dedicated his life to popular fiction, carving out a significant niche in the realm of dime novels and serialized boys' literature. Over the course of a career spanning six decades, he wrote under a wide variety of pseudonyms, most notably Harrison Adams, to accommodate his immense literary output. He is estimated to have produced more than 330 volumes of fiction during his lifetime, demonstrating a particular skill in crafting outdoor adventure stories. These tales of wilderness survival and youthful daring are widely considered to represent his finest work. Through his extensive contributions to juvenile fiction, Rathborne became a staple of early American popular publishing before his death on December 16, 1938.
