The Alfred Ernest Ice Shelf is a geographic feature situated on the north-west coast of Ellesmere Island in Canada. Located between Alert Point and Cape Woods on the Wootton Peninsula, it is distinguished as one of the four remaining ice shelves on the island. Characterized as a composite ice shelf, its structure is composed of an inner unit of glacial origin and a trunk glacier originating from sea ice. Around 1955, a significant section of the shelf broke off, which is now known as the ARLIS-II ice island.
