William Pett Ridge was an English fiction writer active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Born in Chartham, near Canterbury, Kent, in 1859, he received his education in Marden, Kent, before attending the Birkbeck Institute in London.

In his early career, Ridge worked as a clerk in the Railway Clearing House. He began his transition into professional writing around 1891, when he started contributing humorous sketches to the St James's Gazette and other newspapers. He maintained a career in fiction writing until his death in 1930.
