Henry Hiram Riley was a nineteenth-century American lawyer, writer, and politician who served as a state senator in Michigan. Born on September 1, 1813, in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Riley faced significant personal challenges early in life. He was orphaned at the age of ten, after which he moved to New Hartford, New York, to live with his uncle.

After completing his education, Riley relocated to Michigan, where he established a law practice in the community of Constantine. In addition to his legal career, he entered public service and was elected as a Michigan state senator. Alongside his professional and political commitments, Riley also engaged in writing. He passed away on February 8, 1888.
