Franck Ribéry is a French former professional footballer widely regarded as one of the greatest wingers of his generation. Born in 1983, Ribéry began his youth career in 1989 with FC Conti Boulogne before moving through various French clubs, including Lille, US Boulogne, Alès, Brest, and Metz. After a brief but successful stint with the Turkish club Galatasaray, where he won the Turkish Cup, he returned to France to play for Marseille, helping the team reach consecutive Coupe de France finals.
In 2007, Ribéry joined the German powerhouse Bayern Munich for a then-club-record fee of €25 million. Over a historic twelve-season tenure, he secured 24 titles, including nine Bundesliga titles, six DFB-Pokal trophies, and a UEFA Champions League victory. His partnership with fellow winger Arjen Robben, famously dubbed "Robbery," became legendary. Ribéry's exceptional performance during Bayern's 2012–13 treble-winning season earned him a nomination for the 2013 FIFA Ballon d'Or alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
On the international stage, Ribéry represented the France national team 81 times between 2006 and 2014, appearing in two FIFA World Cups and two UEFA European Championships. His individual accolades include three French Player of the Year awards, the German Footballer of the Year award, and the 2013 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award. After concluding his playing career with spells at Fiorentina and Salernitana, Ribéry retired in 2022 and transitioned into a technical role with Salernitana.
