Jesus "Jesse" Manalastas Robredo was a Filipino politician and public servant who dedicated his career to local governance and national administration. Born in 1958, Robredo rose to prominence through his extensive service as the Mayor of Naga in Camarines Sur, a position he held for six terms starting in 1988. His leadership and reform efforts in Naga earned him widespread recognition, including the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 2000, making him the first Filipino mayor to receive the honor.

In July 2010, Robredo transitioned to national politics when he was appointed as the 23rd Secretary of the Interior and Local Government under the administration of President Benigno Aquino III. As a member of the Liberal Party, he served in this cabinet role until his untimely death. On August 18, 2012, Robredo died in a light aircraft crash off the coast of Masbate following an engine failure.
