Brigham Henry Roberts (1857–1933) was a prominent historian, politician, and leader within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Throughout his life, Roberts dedicated much of his intellectual and administrative energy to documenting and defending the history and theology of his faith. He is widely recognized for his monumental contributions to Latter-day Saint historiography, serving as a key intellectual figure in the movement during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

As an author and editor, Roberts was responsible for some of the most extensive historical works produced within the LDS tradition. He edited the seven-volume History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and independently authored the landmark six-volume Comprehensive History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later in life, he penned Studies of the Book of Mormon, a work published posthumously that critically examined the origins and validity of the Book of Mormon as an ancient historical record.

Beyond his literary and religious pursuits, Roberts was active in politics. However, his political career faced significant controversy due to his personal life. After being elected to the United States Congress, he was denied his seat in the House of Representatives because of his practice of plural marriage, reflecting the intense national tensions surrounding Mormon polygamy during that era.
