William James Robert Peel, 3rd Earl Peel, is a British hereditary peer who has served as a member of the House of Lords. Born on October 3, 1947, he was known by the courtesy title Viscount Clanfield until 1969.\n\nPeel entered the House of Lords as a Conservative peer on May 15, 1973. He maintained this party affiliation for over three decades until October 2006, when he was appointed Lord Chamberlain of the Royal Household. Following this appointment, he transitioned to a crossbench, or non-partisan, member of the House of Lords.
