William Rowley (c. 1585 – 1626) was an English dramatist active during the Jacobean era. He is historically best recognized for his collaborative writing, frequently co-authoring theatrical works alongside some of the more successful and prominent playwrights of his day.
Relatively little is documented about Rowley's personal life, with his birth year estimated to be around 1585. He passed away in early 1626 and was buried on February 11 of that year in the graveyard of St James's, Clerkenwell, in north London. Although definitive archival evidence of his 1626 death was discovered in 1928, some historical sources and authorities have persisted in erroneously listing his death year as 1642.
