Born in 1894, she established herself as a prominent activist, focusing much of her efforts on campaigning for peace and the availability of contraception. She was also known as the second wife of the philosopher Bertrand Russell.

In addition to her writing and domestic campaigning, Russell participated in international efforts. She worked for British Ally, a newspaper based in Moscow that was funded by the government of the United Kingdom.

During the Cold War, her commitment to peace led her to organize and lead the "Women's Peace Caravan" across Europe in 1958. She passed away in 1986, leaving a legacy defined by her dedication to feminism, socialism, and international peace.
