Jessie Margaret Edmondston Saxby was a Scottish writer and folklorist from Unst, one of the Shetland Islands. Born in 1842, she focused her literary efforts on the unique cultural heritage of her northern home, documenting its regional folklore.
In addition to her writing, Saxby maintained active political interests. She was a dedicated suffragette who advocated for women's right to vote, combining her cultural preservation work with social activism until her death in 1940.
