Allen William Seaby (1867–1953) was an English artist, educator, and author who made significant contributions to both fine art and children's literature during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Best known as an ornithological painter and printmaker, Seaby dedicated much of his career to capturing the natural world, particularly bird life, with precision and artistic flair. His expertise in printmaking and wildlife painting established him as a prominent figure in British art circles.

Beyond his personal creative practice, Seaby was a highly dedicated educator. He served as the Professor of Fine Art at the University of Reading, where he influenced generations of aspiring artists and helped shape the institution's art curriculum. To support his students and the wider artistic community, he authored several instructional art books designed to guide students through the technical and aesthetic aspects of drawing, printmaking, and painting.

Seaby also found success as a writer and illustrator of children's books. Combining his artistic talents with narrative storytelling, he created engaging works for younger audiences that often featured his own detailed illustrations of animals and nature. Through these diverse endeavors, Seaby successfully bridged the worlds of academic art instruction, wildlife illustration, and children's literature throughout his long and productive career.
