Sarah Elizabeth Forbush Downs (1843–1926) was an American author who became prominent as a dime novelist during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Writing during a period when inexpensive, sensational serial fiction was highly popular, she published works under her birth name as well as multiple variations of her married name.
Downs is most widely recognized under her primary pen name, "Mrs. Georgie Sheldon." Throughout her career, she also published literary works using her own name, Sarah Elizabeth Forbush Downs, and the alternative pseudonym "Mrs. George Sheldon Downs." Her contributions to the dime novel genre helped shape the landscape of popular American fiction during her lifetime.
