Herbert Silberer was an Austrian psychoanalyst who was active during the early development of modern psychology. Before his work in psychoanalysis, Silberer had a background in athletics and worked as a sports journalist. He eventually became involved with the prominent professional circle surrounding Sigmund Freud in Vienna. Through this group, he was associated with other major pioneers of psychological study, including Carl Gustav Jung and Alfred Adler, contributing to the early era of psychoanalytic exploration.
