Seba Smith (1792–1868) was an American writer and humorist who lived and worked during the nineteenth century. Born in the late eighteenth century, Smith established himself within the early American literary tradition through his humorous writings.\n\nSmith was married to Elizabeth Oakes Smith, who was also a writer. The couple had a son, Appleton Oaksmith, who also pursued writing. Smith passed away in 1868, leaving behind a family legacy closely tied to American literature.
