William Spalding (1809–1859) was a Scottish academic and writer who dedicated much of his professional life to higher education and scholarship. For the last twenty years of his life, he served as a professor of rhetoric and logic, guiding students in the arts of discourse, critical reasoning, and formal analysis.
In addition to his university career, Spalding was an active contributor to the literary world of the mid-nineteenth century. His published writings encompassed a variety of formats, including essays, reviews, and historical texts, reflecting his broad intellectual interests and analytical expertise.
