Thomas Sprat (1635–1713) was an English churchman and writer who achieved prominence in both ecclesiastical and intellectual circles during the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. He was appointed as the Bishop of Rochester in 1684, a significant religious office.\n\nIn addition to his clerical career, Sprat was a writer and a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS).
