Vilhjalmur Stefansson (1879–1962) was an Arctic explorer and ethnologist. Born in Manitoba, Canada, he dedicated his career to the geographic and cultural study of the far north.\n\nHis work as an explorer and ethnologist provided valuable documentation of Arctic environments and indigenous cultures during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
