Burton Egbert Stevenson (1872–1962) was an American author, anthologist, and librarian whose life and career spanned the late nineteenth and mid-twentieth centuries. Born in Chillicothe, Ohio, on November 9, 1872, Stevenson grew up in the American Midwest before pursuing his higher education. He attended Princeton University from 1890 to 1893, where he developed the academic and literary interests that would define his professional life.

Following his time at Princeton, Stevenson established himself as a versatile figure in the literary world. He worked extensively as an author of original texts and as an anthologist, compiling various collections of literature. In addition to his creative and editorial pursuits, he served as a librarian, dedicating much of his career to the stewardship of books and public access to information. Through these combined roles, Stevenson made lasting contributions to American literary culture and library science before his death in 1962.
