Friedrichstraße is a major culture and shopping street located in central Berlin, where it forms the core of the Friedrichstadt neighborhood and lends its name to the Berlin Friedrichstraße station. The street runs in a north-southerly direction, stretching from the northern part of the old Mitte district—beyond which it continues as Chausseestraße—down to the Hallesches Tor in the district of Kreuzberg. This prominent downtown area is highly regarded for its expensive real estate market and serves as the home of the Hertie School of Governance campus.

As a primary north-south transit route, Friedrichstraße forms vital junctions with key east-western axes, most notably intersecting with Leipziger Straße and Unter den Linden, while the U6 U-Bahn line runs directly underneath the street. During the Cold War, the street was historically bisected by the Berlin Wall and became widely recognized as the location of the famous Checkpoint Charlie crossing.
