Johan Nicolai Madvig (1804–1886) was a Danish scholar and politician active in the nineteenth century. Born in August 1804, he is historically recognized for his contributions as a philologist, specializing in the study of language and classical texts.
Over the course of his life, Madvig also participated in the governance of Denmark, serving the nation as its Kultus Minister. He passed away in December 1886, leaving behind a legacy defined by his academic work and public service.
