John W. Thomason was an American politician from Illinois who served in public office during the early decades of the twentieth century. Born in Clay County, Illinois, on July 5, 1874, Thomason established a career in law and local governance within his home state.
His entry into public office began in 1900, when he was elected to serve as the county state's attorney. This early legal and administrative role laid the groundwork for his subsequent involvement in state and national politics. In 1912, Thomason participated in national politics as a Presidential elector, representing his state during a significant election year.
Following his role as an elector, Thomason transitioned to state-level legislative service. He was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1912, where he served for three terms. Throughout his tenure in the legislature, he represented his district in Springfield before his career concluded. Thomason passed away in 1953.
