Isabel Thompson

Isabelle Namauʻu Thompson was a Hawaiian-American teacher and politician who represented Maui County in the Hawaii Territorial House of Representatives.

Isabelle Namauʻu Thompson was a Hawaiian-American educator and political figure active in the mid-twentieth century. Born in Lahaina, Hawaii, on May 17, 1891, she dedicated her early career to teaching before transitioning into public service and territorial politics.

In 1945, Thompson was elected to represent Maui County in the Hawaii Territorial House of Representatives. Although her legislative career was marked by significant promise, her tenure was severely impacted by poor health. She was ill for much of her term and passed away from an intracerebral hemorrhage on June 11, 1946, before her term in office could be completed.
