Ruth Plumly Thompson was an American writer of children's literature who is best remembered for her major contributions to the Oz series. Following the success of L. Frank Baum's classic children's novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and its initial sequels, Thompson took on the task of continuing the stories, writing numerous novels set within the same beloved fictional universe.
