Jack Thorne is an acclaimed British playwright, screenwriter, and producer born in 1978. Over his career, he has established himself as a versatile writer across stage, television, and film. He gained significant recognition for his collaborative work with director Shane Meadows, co-writing three television mini-series expanding on the film This Is England: This Is England '86, This Is England '88, and This Is England '90 between 2010 and 2015.

Thorne is perhaps best known globally for writing the script of the hit stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which premiered in 2016. His work in film includes screenplays for the family drama Wonder (2017) and the popular mystery films Enola Holmes (2020) and its 2022 sequel. On television, he spearheaded the high-profile fantasy adaptation of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, which aired from 2019 to 2022.

In the 2020s, Thorne continued to produce critically acclaimed television dramas. His 2023 four-part mini-series Best Interests, starring Michael Sheen and Sharon Horgan, received numerous award nominations and won Best Limited Series at the Banff Rockie Awards. He followed this success with the 2025 Netflix mini-series Toxic Town and Adolescence, both of which earned widespread critical praise. In 2026, he served as the screenwriter for the first-ever television adaptation of William Golding's classic novel Lord of the Flies.
