John Timbs (1801–1875) was an English author and antiquary who wrote during the nineteenth century. He is known for his contributions to antiquarian literature, documenting history and miscellaneous facts for the reading public of his era.\n\nIn addition to publishing under his own name, Timbs also released some of his literary work under the pseudonym Horace Welby. His career reflected the Victorian interest in historical preservation, archiving, and popular antiquarianism.
