Byron Rushing is an American politician who dedicated over three decades to public service in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Born on July 29, 1942, Rushing went on to represent the Ninth Suffolk district in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. His tenure in office spanned from 1983 to 2019, during which he represented the South End neighborhood of Boston.

As a member of the Democratic Party, Rushing first secured his seat in the legislature following his election in 1982. Throughout his extensive legislative career, he became a prominent figure in Boston politics. His long-standing service in the House of Representatives concluded after he lost his 2018 bid for reelection to challenger Jon Santiago during the Democratic primary.
