Born in Braintree, Essex, she was the second of four daughters born to Augustus Charles Veley and Sophia Ludbey. She spent her life dedicated to her literary pursuits and never married.\n\nVeley's writing career was cut short when she passed away in her early forties following a brief illness. Her death was attributed to a severe chill that ultimately resulted in a throat infection. Despite her brief life, she left behind a legacy as a dedicated poet and writer of her time.
