Aage Helgesen Vedel was a Vice-Admiral in the Royal Danish Navy who served as the chief of the Naval Command from 1941 until 1958. Born in 1894, his career in naval leadership spanned the critical years of the mid-twentieth century.\n\nDuring the events of World War II, Vedel took decisive action to protect his nation's naval assets. He successfully managed to scuttle the majority of the Danish navy's ships, ensuring they would not fall into German hands during the conflict. He passed away in 1981.
