A. Vijayaraghavan is a prominent Indian politician affiliated with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)). Born in the Malappuram district of Kerala, he has built a long career in public service and political organization. He completed his education with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Government Law College in Kozhikode and early on served as the president of the Students Federation of India.

Throughout his legislative career, Vijayaraghavan has represented Kerala in both houses of the Parliament of India. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Palakkad constituency in 1989 and later served as a member of the Rajya Sabha. During his tenure in the upper house, he held significant roles, including Chief Whip of the CPI(M) and chairman of the parliamentary committees on Subordinate Legislation and General Assurances. He was also selected as a member of the Indian contingent for the United Nations General Assembly.

Within his party and associated organizations, Vijayaraghavan has held numerous leadership positions. He has served as the Convener of the Left Democratic Front in Kerala, the Acting Secretary of the CPI(M) Kerala State Committee, and an ad-hoc Secretary during the 2022 elections. Additionally, he is a member of the CPI(M) Central Secretariat and serves as the All India General Secretary of the All India Agricultural Workers Union. Beyond his political duties, he is a director of Malayalam Communications Limited. He resides in Thrissur with his wife, Prof. R. Bindu, a minister in the Kerala government.
