William Downing Webster was a British ethnographic dealer and collector active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He is best known for his collection of materials gathered following the Benin Expedition of 1897, during which British troops seized a large number of cultural objects. Webster's work in acquiring and dealing these items remains a notable part of the history of ethnographic collecting.
