James Edward Cowell Welldon (1854–1937) was an English clergyman and scholar who served as Bishop of Calcutta, Dean of Manchester, and Dean of Durham.

James Edward Cowell Welldon (25 April 1854 – 17 June 1937) was an English clergyman and scholar who dedicated his life to religious service and academic pursuits. Active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Welldon held several of the most distinguished offices in his field.\n\nHis ecclesiastical career was marked by significant appointments. He served as the Bishop of Calcutta from 1898 to 1902, representing the church in an important international capacity.\n\nFollowing his time in Calcutta, Welldon returned to England to serve in prominent deaneries. He was appointed Dean of Manchester in 1906, serving in this capacity until 1918. Immediately following this, he became the Dean of Durham, a position he held from 1918 until 1933.
