Eliza Orne White was an American writer whose career spanned the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Born in 1856, she became a highly productive author, ultimately publishing forty-one books over the course of her life before her death in 1947. A significant portion of White's published work was dedicated to younger audiences. Of her forty-one total books, twenty-nine were written specifically for children.
