John Wiggins was an American politician who served in the Louisiana House of Representatives during the Reconstruction era. Born into slavery, Wiggins achieved his freedom and later entered public service, representing De Soto Parish as a member of the Republican Party.
Wiggins was elected to his legislative post on December 4, 1872. He served in the state legislature until his death on January 2, 1874. His brief political career highlights the historic participation of African-American legislators in Southern state governments during the post-Civil War period.
