John Robert Francis Wild (18 April 1873 – 19 August 1939) was an English sailor and explorer who played a significant role during the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. Over the course of his career, Wild participated in five separate expeditions to Antarctica, making him one of the era's most active polar explorers.\n\nHis contributions to these historic journeys earned him high recognition. Wild was awarded the Polar Medal with four bars, a rare distinction shared by only one other person, Ernest Joyce. Wild's life and career remain central to the history of early Antarctic exploration.
