Lancelot Patrick Wilkinson was an English classical scholar and academic whose career was closely associated with the University of Cambridge. Born in 1907, he served as a don at the university and eventually became the Dean of King's College, where he contributed to the academic and administrative life of the institution. During the Second World War, Wilkinson paused his academic pursuits to assist with the Allied war effort. He was employed at Bletchley Park, the renowned British code-breaking facility dedicated to decrypting Axis communications. His wartime service also included an overseas posting, after which he returned to his scholarly endeavors in England until his death in 1985.
