W. A. "Winkie" Wilkins is a former American politician who served as a Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly. His legislative career spanned a decade, during which he represented constituents in the northern Piedmont region of the state.
Wilkins first entered the legislature in 2004, representing the 55th House district, which encompassed parts of Durham and Person counties. Following legislative redistricting, he transitioned to representing the 2nd House district from January 2013 until December 2014, serving constituents in Granville and Person counties. Citing health concerns, Wilkins announced in 2014 that he would not seek re-election, concluding his tenure in the state legislature.
