Born in 1959, Edward Willett is a dual US and Canadian citizen. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Harding University before beginning his professional career in Saskatchewan, Canada. He worked as a reporter and news editor for the Weyburn Review from 1980 to 1984, and later served as a communications officer for the Saskatchewan Science Centre in Regina from 1988 to 1993.

Willett has established a prolific career in speculative fiction, writing under his own name as well as pseudonyms such as E. C. Blake, Lee Arthur Chane, and Adam Blade. His extensive bibliography includes notable science fiction and fantasy series such as Right to Know, The Helix War, The Masks of Aygrima, Shards of Excalibur, and the Worldshapers series. His work spans various subgenres of speculative fiction, capturing diverse themes of world-building and adventure.

Beyond his own writing, Willett is an active figure in the Canadian speculative fiction community, having served as the president of SF Canada. In 2018, he founded the independent publishing house Shadowpaw Press and launched The Worldshapers podcast, where he interviews science fiction, fantasy, and other genre authors about their creative processes. The podcast won the Aurora Award for Best Fan Related Work in 2019, and has spawned a series of successfully crowdfunded anthologies featuring stories from its guests.
