Richard Gene Wilson was a United States Army soldier who served as a combat medic during the Korean War. Born on August 19, 1931, Wilson distinguished himself through his actions on the battlefield, which ultimately led to him receiving the military's highest honor.\n\nDuring the Battle of Yongju, Wilson attempted to rescue a wounded soldier. He was killed in action on October 21, 1950, at the age of nineteen. For his bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration presented by the United States.
