Dorothy Mae Ann Wordsworth (1771–1855) was an English author, poet, and diarist who lived during the Romantic era. She was the sister of the famous Romantic poet William Wordsworth. The siblings shared an exceptionally close bond throughout their adult lives, living and working in near proximity. While her brother pursued public acclaim, Dorothy had no ambitions to be a public author. Instead, she focused her literary efforts on private forms of writing. Despite her lack of public ambition, she left behind a substantial and diverse literary estate. Her surviving works consist of numerous personal letters, detailed diary entries, vivid topographical descriptions, and original poems. These writings offer a unique window into her life, her creative mind, and her deep connection to her brother's literary world.
