Rowland Wright

Sir Rowland Wright was a prominent British industrialist who served as Chairman of Imperial Chemical Industries and Chancellor of Queen's University, Belfast.

Sir Rowland Sydney Wright CBE (1915–1991) was a distinguished British industrialist and administrator. Born in Northampton, Wright built a prominent career in the British chemical industry, eventually rising to the position of Chairman of Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI). His leadership and contributions to British trade, particularly his services to export, earned him significant national recognition.

In addition to his corporate career, Wright was active in higher education and public service. From 1984 until his death in 1991, he served as the Chancellor of Queen's University, Belfast. His contributions to industry and public life were recognized with a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1970, followed by a knighthood in 1976. He passed away in Lewes, East Sussex, at the age of 75.
