Samuel Hall Young, commonly known as S. Hall Young, was an American clergyman and pioneering missionary who dedicated his life to religious service in Alaska. Born in 1847, Young became a prominent figure in the region's early missionary history, navigating the challenging northern wilderness to establish his ministry.\n\nThroughout his career, Young maintained a notable connection with the famous naturalist John Muir. His experiences and adventures alongside Muir in the frontier are preserved in literature, as Young is frequently mentioned in Muir's final published book, Travels in Alaska. Young's pioneering efforts in the territory concluded with his death in 1927.
